About Spencer Behmlander, LLPC

When a relationship is struggling, it can affect much more than the relationship itself. You may feel anxious, angry, discouraged, or unsure what to do next. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out for support.

I’m Spencer Behmlander, LLPC, a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor with Midwest Behavioral Clinic. I work with adults in Shelby Township and through online therapy. I’m especially interested in supporting men who are navigating relationship difficulties, emotional stress, and questions about faith or purpose.

My areas of focus include anxiety, anger management, grief and loss, and substance use concerns. I also work with adults experiencing marital problems, separation, divorce, or other difficult changes in their relationships. Together, we can explore what is happening, identify patterns that are getting in the way, and work toward goals that reflect what matters to you.

My approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy. That means making room for your experience while also examining how thoughts, behaviors, and relationship patterns influence daily life. Our work may include developing coping skills, understanding emotional reactions, strengthening boundaries, and finding more constructive ways to communicate.

I earned an MA in Counseling from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. My professional background includes serving churches, private practice counseling, and work in addictions treatment.

For clients who want it, I can incorporate a Christian perspective into counseling. I can also support clients who want to discuss religious concerns without making faith integration part of their therapy. We can talk openly about what feels appropriate for you.

I offer morning and afternoon appointments in Shelby Township and online. If you are looking for a place to talk honestly and consider your next steps, I would welcome the opportunity to work with you.
