Dr. Ross Beckley is a marriage and family therapist with extensive experience helping children, adolescents, parents, couples, and families strengthen relationships and work through emotional, behavioral, and family challenges.
He uses a cognitive-behavioral and developmentally informed approach, recognizing that each person’s age, experiences, and individual needs play an important role in the therapeutic process. His goal is to help clients improve communication, develop healthier patterns, and create more supportive family relationships.
He began his career as an elementary school teacher and later worked as a special education teacher, reading consultant, and teacher consultant for students with learning disabilities and emotional impairments. This background gives him a valuable understanding of child development, learning differences, school-related concerns, and the challenges families may experience while supporting a child’s growth.
Dr. Beckley earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Oakland University and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a specialization in reading and learning disabilities. He also earned a Master of Arts from Wayne State University with a specialization in marriage and family therapy, as well as an Educational Specialist degree from Wayne State University. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Union Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Beckley has taught more than 50 college and university courses in education, reading, counselor education, and psychology at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He is also a member of the American Association of Suicidology.
