About Kimberly Ferns
I’m Kimberly Ferns, MA, LLPC, CAADC, a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor with Midwest Behavioral Clinic. I work with clients in Highland, Michigan, and through online therapy. My primary focus is helping young adults and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, or difficulties with confidence and self-worth.
You may be carrying worry that is hard to set aside, feeling discouraged or disconnected, or trying to understand life after a loss. Sometimes several concerns overlap, making it difficult to know where to begin. Therapy can give you space to talk about what you are experiencing and identify what you would like to change.
My approach is collaborative and draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered Therapy. Together, we can explore connections between thoughts, feelings, and behavior, consider what matters to you, and work on practical responses to everyday challenges. I also incorporate narrative and psychodynamic approaches when they fit the work we are doing.
I bring five years of experience providing therapy. Alongside anxiety, depression, and grief, I support clients with concerns about stress, life transitions, self-esteem, and boundaries. My CAADC credential and experience with alcohol, opioid, and cannabis use also inform the support I can offer when substance use is part of the picture.
Finding a therapist involves more than matching a list of concerns. It is also about having room for your own experiences, priorities, and goals. If you are considering counseling, you can request an appointment with me or contact Midwest Behavioral Clinic to discuss fit, appointment options, and the next step.
